Parking lots

1. Inside NAIST Campus

There are a total of four parking areas on campus.

  • In front of the building of the Information Science division.

  • In front of the building of the Interdisciplinary Frontier division（No1）.

  • In front of the building of the Interdisciplinary Frontier division（No2）.

  • In front of the building of the Material Science division.

Each parking lot has a charging outlet, please make sure to connect the car’s charger when returning it to one of these parking lots

2. Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR)

A Keihanna NAISMoN Car-Sharing parking area is also available at ATR.
Please check the map and photo below.
Note that a charging outlet is also available here, please make sure you charge the car after returning.

Coffee machine (※Currently suspended※)

We’re planning on installing coffee machines (Delonghi Magnifica S) which you can pay for with Keihanna NAISMoN Tokens automatically. One machine has been installed in the office of the Software Engineering Laboratory (Information B302)

Precautions when using the Car-Sharing system

Driving Distance

The maximum travel distance allowed is 30 km.
If you use the service above this distance, we may take some measures such as suspension of use.

Availability

Availability is not guaranteed, therefore, don’t count on using the service for emergencies.
Don’t plan your schedules based on the use of the service.

Charging

The user will be responsible for the fees of the tow car in case of lack of charging.
Make sure you connect the charging cable when returning the car.

In case of system freeze/malfunction

A sudden freeze in the system may happen. In that case, the social mobility experiment committee will contact the user immediately.

While using

Smoking is not allowed inside the car.
Make sure you take your garbage with you.
Pets are not allowed to ride in the car.
Kerosene and other dangerous object are not to be loaded in the car.

Professors / Staff only: Use on business trips

  • Students can not drive on business trips, nor ride with professors or staff in the same car on a business trip.

  • Business trip zones are neighboring cities and towns.

  • Business trips driving qualifications: One year since acquiring the driving license and not being subject to any revocation or suspension of the license for one year before the trip.
    Please inform us if you become subject to one of the above penalties after registering for a business trip.

  • When applying for travel expenses, please indicate "Use of car-sharing vehicle (round trip)" in the remarks column of the travel order book.

However, the car is not always available, in that case, please follow the procedure to change the order book.

Compensation for damages

In general, the university will bear any damages that exceed the compensation the insurance company covers.

However, if the user was found at fault for intentional or serious negligence, the university will have the right to seek compensation from the user.
