Overview of Keihanna NAISMoN

The Social Mobility System Project is a research project launched within Nara Institute of Science and Technology on Feb 01, 2016. The project aims at achieving a sustainable society by changing human behavior using information technology. The developed Car Sharing System is regarded as a “Society”, in which the research will be solving the various physical problems in that society with the help of the power of “Information Technology”.

The Car Sharing System will provide four electric cars (Nissan SAKURA) with an exclusive management system and parking lots with charging services inside the campus and two lots at the station. The Car Sharing System is regarded as a “Society”, thus, we will be conducting various research experiments and demonstrations on problems that occur in that society, aiming to be a place to discuss and solve these problems using sustainable methods.

Car-Sharing Drop-off

It’s a Drop-off Car-Sharing system in specified stations. Although the ban on car-sharing in Japan was left in March 2014, however, it’s still not widespread, due to the difficulty of monetizing the cost of a parking space and vehicle relocation.

In this experiment, we used an incentive design that visualizes demand and rewards aiming at achieving a system that can be operated autonomously among users. In this research, we will change and adjust the mechanism (rules) in order to find a favorable incentive design.
